Resident Evil 6 is scheduled for release on the 2nd of October this year. Designed to be all new and thrilling the game is said to offer what all the other games in the series hasn't. With a staff of 600 working on the development by Capcom is this newest Resident Evil going to blow the rest away?
I feel I must add this; this page contains information on the contents and unlockable contents of the upcoming release of the new game. So for all those who don't want to know what to expect... SPOILER ALERT!
Set to be released on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 the newest instalment in the survival horror series Resident Evil is said to have everything the others in the series didn't have and more. Capcom have developed the game to be bigger, quicker and more gripping than any of the others. Old characters such as Leon S.Kennedy and Chris Redfield will be making a return to centre screen as well as the less known Sherry Birkin from Resident Evil 2 and a new character altogether Jake Muller. All of these characters have their own individual story lines that the players can follow to learn everything about the overall story of the game encompassing all aspects. As I said, the game is set to be enormous taking into account three separate story lines (Sherry Birkin and Jake Muller are partners) and creating one overall story.
The game is said to feature an all new and never before seen in the series move&shoot ability. All other games in the series the ability to fire at your enemies came with the drawback of being fixed to the spot, with this taken out of the equation the games pace increases dramatically. As the previous instalments were bound by the fixed shooting design they had to create scenarios in the games that were challenging but achievable with this handicap. With the addition of move&shoot the game play takes a whole new turn which I'm sure will introduce a whole new series of challenging confrontations and options in the game.
As with the newest releases of the games there are unlockable materials in the game for the avid player which includes a secret fourth story line which is rumoured to include the infamous Ada Wong. 'Agent Hunt' is a new multi-player function introduced into the game (unlockable) that allows people to jump into their friends’ campaign as one of the enemies! Obviously having your friends trying to take you down can be a lot more challenging than a hoard of AI's so should make for interesting gameplay. Co-op is again available in this instalment as is (in certain parts) the ability to play a 4 person scenario. As the game works in the same context as 5 (two main characters) per story line when two story lines coincide 4 players can join together interactively.
Of course Mercenaries is also returning to this release as an unlockable although there has been no news to suggest which characters will be available for this gameplay. The game has already had a demo release as of July 3rd that has come back with mixed reviews all of which were taken into account by Capcom. As a result, Capcom tweaked the game to suit the reviews they received for the second demo release on 5th September. Capcom have tried to incorporate what made RE4 so successful and RE5 so popular in order to create a game that appeals to their entire gaming audience.
Looks to me like the game is taking into account what had made the modern design of Resident Evil so good from both of their releases and mashed them together to come out with something setting up to be a possible classic in the making. We will just have to wait till October to get the full feel but from what I read it's looking good. Let me know what you think about the upcoming release on our Facebook page.
